Time and Money: How Do You Protect Both?

Grab your cup. ☕ Let's cut through the noise of a crazy busy season.

This week, many coaching calls kept circling back to the exact same two struggles, whether I was talking to a solo agent, a rainmaker, or a Market Center leader. We're all fighting to keep our daily focus from getting hijacked, and honestly, to actually keep the money we're making.

Here are the two quick shifts we are tackling right now.

Challenge 1: The "Everything is Important" Trap

The Friction: When you're running the show, everybody else's emergency tries to become your priority. You've got agents to huddle with, fires to put out, and endless administrative loops. It's incredibly easy to confuse being busy with actually moving the needle. By 2:00 PM, you're exhausted, but your own business hasn't grown an inch.

The Strategy: We went straight back to the basics of The ONE Thing. The rule is simple: "What's the ONE Thing you can do this week such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?"

  • Find your lead domino. If you're a leader, it's talent acquisition. If you're a solo agent, it's lead gen. Period.
  • Block the first half of your day. Do not open email or check messages until that ONE Thing is done. If you don't protect your morning, the world will eat it.

Challenge 2: High Income vs. True Wealth

The Friction: Real estate is amazing for making a really good living, but as we know, GCI is gross commission income and there are a lot of hands that dip into that bucket (including the beloved Uncle Sam). The scary part at making good money is lifestyle creep and shiny new objects.

The Strategy: We leaned hard into Morgan Housel's The Psychology of Money. He makes a massive distinction we all need to hear: Rich is current income. Wealth is the income you don't see—it's the money saved, invested, and turned into freedom.

  • Leave room for error. A plan is only useful if it can survive real life. Look at your reserves this week. Do you have enough cash to emotionally and financially survive a market shift without panicking? And, are you putting your taxes into a separate account from each closing to make sure you have it when it's owed?
  • Stop watching other people's highlight reels. Their game isn't your game. Focus on compounding your own profit and buying back your time.

The Weekly Challenge

Look at your calendar and your bank account from the last two weeks—no fluff, just the raw data—and ask yourself this:

"Am I running a business that maximizes my calendar clutter and lifestyle expenses, or am I focusing on the ONE Thing that builds true, invisible wealth?"

Tomorrow morning, let's play a different game. This week, block out one hour to take a look at your P and L. Don't have one? Ok, let's get one into place…that's what I'm here for.

Hit reply and tell me what your ONE Thing is this week!
